Autumn Term Update 🍂
What a fantastic start to the Autumn term it’s been! The children have settled brilliantly into the new school year and have already been working incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum.
In Science, we’ve been exploring the fascinating world beneath our feet – discovering how rocks and fossils are formed, investigating the permeability of different types of soil, and learning about the marvellous Mary Anning and her incredible fossil discoveries.
Over in Art, we’ve been diving into the bright and bold world of Pop Art. The children have loved learning about Andy Warhol and are busy designing their very own chocolate wrapper masterpieces inspired by his iconic style – we can’t wait to share their colourful creations with you!
In Maths, our focus has been on place value, addition, and subtraction. The children have shown real determination and confidence as they’ve begun to exchange for the first time – and they’ve absolutely smashed it!
Our Geography lessons have taken us on a journey to South America, where we’ve been learning all about Brazil and the Amazon rainforest. We’ve compared life there with life in the UK and discovered some amazing similarities and differences along the way.
But that’s only half of our term... we still have so much to look forward to in the run-up to Christmas! 🎄
In History, we’ll be delving into the history of the Black Country and exploring its links to the Industrial Revolution, before learning about the impact Cadbury’s had on our local area. In English, we’ll be enjoying ‘The Chocolate Ghost’ and using ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ as inspiration for our own creative writing. As we move closer to Christmas, we’ll be reading ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and producing our very own explanation texts based on the story.
In Science, we’ll begin to investigate the parts of plants, exploring how they grow and what they need to survive. And of course, no festive season would be complete without music! In Music, we’ll be rehearsing our Christmas songs in preparation for our Carol Concert in December – an event you definitely won’t want to miss!
It’s shaping up to be a truly wonderful term full of learning, creativity and festive cheer! 🎅✨
Spring Update 🌟
We are ready to kick off another term full of fascinating discoveries, creative projects, and lots of learning. Here’s a look at what we’ll be covering:
Science
In Science, we’re diving into the world of Forces and Magnets! We’ll explore how magnets attract and repel each other, and we’ll also be investigating Light and the science behind shadows.
Art
This term, we’re venturing into the world of Sculpture. We’ll study the work of the talented artist Rosie Hurley and create our own animal sculptures using plasticine. These will be inspired by Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Beasts, so get ready for some wild and imaginative creations!
Maths
In Maths, we’ll start with Multiplication and Division before moving on to the exciting world of Length and Perimeter. After that, we’ll tackle Fractions, which will be a fun challenge to wrap our heads around.
Geography
Our Geography lessons will transport us to Egypt, where we’ll focus on the River Nile and its significance to the ancient world. We’ll learn about the geography and history of this iconic river and its importance to Egypt.
History
In History, we’ll continue our exploration of the Black Country’s Industrial past, and we’ll look at the lasting impact of Cadbury’s on our local area. It's a fascinating journey into the history that shaped our community.
English
In English, we’ll be reading Little Red, which will inspire our creative writing, and Cloud Busting, which will be our focus for reading. We can’t wait to explore these thought-provoking texts and use them to spark our imaginations.
An Action-Packed Term of Learning and Creativity! 🎨🔬
We’re so excited about all the learning, creativity, and exploration this term! There’s something for everyone, and we can’t wait to share all of the exciting things we’ll be doing.
