Geography rationale

Our Geography rationale explains how we deliver a curriculum that inspires curiosity and deepens understanding of the world and its people. Drawing on the most recent educational research, we design a coherent and knowledge-rich learning journey that develops substantive knowledge (places, environments, and processes) alongside disciplinary knowledge (geographical enquiry and fieldwork). Through carefully sequenced units, hands-on experiences, and real-world case studies, pupils learn to interpret maps, analyse data, and explore human and physical geography. We foster critical thinking, cultural awareness, and environmental responsibility, encouraging pupils to make meaningful connections between local and global contexts. Purposeful assessment and retrieval practice ensure progression and mastery, equipping pupils with the knowledge and skills to understand and engage with an ever-changing world.
