Design and Technology Subject Rationale
Our Design and Technology rationale explains how we deliver a curriculum that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and practical skill development. Drawing on the most recent educational research, we design a coherent and knowledge-rich learning journey that balances procedural knowledge (designing and making), practical knowledge (using tools and materials), and disciplinary knowledge (evaluating and improving). Through carefully sequenced projects, pupils learn to design, make, and evaluate products that solve real problems, applying technical skills with creativity and purpose. We encourage independence, collaboration, and critical thinking, while exploring the work of designers past and present.
